Shoreline Media, the parent company for the Ludington Daily News, Oceana's Herald Journal and White Lake Beacon is excited to provide you with a new service. Get text messages on your mobile phone or PDA with news, weather and more from your news leader.
The text alert system is free, but, text messaging fees from your cell phone provider still apply. If you have no data plan or text messaging service on your phone then you'll get hit with a per message fee, 15 cents or so. Once you select sign up below you can pick which alerts you would like to receive. Some of the alerts are somewhat subjective and you'll have to trust us on the breaking news alerts. If US-10 is shut down because of some catastrophe (and we hear of it) we'll let you know, if the neighbor's cat is stuck in a tree, then we'll probably let that slide. Other alerts are black and white, school is closed or not. For severe weather, if the National Weather Service issues a watch or a warning, we'll let you know. The system allows you to select from a list of what you want to be alerted to, and you can change those options at any time.
Stay connected to us wherever you are! With our text messaging service, get breaking news updates along with other area information sent to you as a text message to your wireless device. Sign-up is fast and easy! In Step 1, enter your name and email address, a confirmation link will be sent to your email address. In Step 2, setup a new alert using your cell phone or email address. An authorization link will be sent to you as a text message or email to verify.

- Breaking News - Get breaking news and emergency alert information for our area.
- Severe Weather Alerts - Be notified, 24 hours a day, when severe weather threatens your county. Information straight from the National Weather Service.
- Daily Weather Forecast - Receive the local weather forecast as a text message each morning.
- High School Sports Scores - Stay up to date on your favorite high school sports teams.
- School Closings/Delays - Be the first to know when your school is canceled or delayed.
NOTE: The text messaging program is a free service provided by shorelinemedia.net. The service is FCC CAN-SPAM compliant. You may change your message preferences or un-subscribe from the service at any time by signing into your account. Check your wireless provider for any additional text messages fees they may charge.
